FRONT AXLE PART NUMBER AND CAPACITY Front Axle Part Numbers do not appear in the Parts Catalog and are used only as a reference when directing inquiries to the Central Office P A Department The Axle capacity corresponds with model usage now shown in the Parts Catalog REAR AXLE PART NUMBER Rear Axle Part Numbers do not appear in the Parts Catalog and are used only as a reference when directing inquiries to Central Office P A Department The Axle Code and Ratio appear on the G V W Plate and correspond with the Axle Chart in the Illustration Parts Catalog P A 25 TRANSMISSION PART NUMBER Transmission Part Numbers are not necessarily listed in the Parts Catalog and are to be used only as a reference when directing inquiries to Central Office P A Department The Transmission Code appears on the G V W plate and corresponds with the Transmission Identification Chart in the Illustration Parts Catalog P A 25 AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION Auxiliary Transmissions only apply to Tandem Models and will be designated as either 3 Speed or 4 Speed on the identification plate BRAKE SYSTEM Air or hydraulic will be shown Air over hydraulic brakes will be shown as hydraulic WHEEL BASE The Wheel Base on all trucks except Tandem Models is the distance between the center lines of the Front and Rear Axles For Tandem Models the Wheel Base is measured from the center line of the Front Axle to a point midway between the two Rear Axles See the Model Identification Chart for applicable wheelbase dimensions SPECIAL EQUIPMENT SE The Special Equipment Number is a four digit number for reference purposes only It is of primary importance that this number be furnished when directing inquiries to the Central Office P A Dept On 1963 early production vehicles without the Parts Identification Plate the SE number appears on the lower right corner of the G V W plate WHEELS The information shown is self explanatory The type of Wheel is either cast or disc with the corresponding size and number of studs also indicated SPRINGS The Spring R P O Number when used in conjunction with the Truck Spring Identification Chart in the Illustration Parts Catalog P A 25 will indicate the ring capacity of the Front Rear or Auxiliary Springs and model application The space will be blank if the Springs are standard pro duction If Springs are special the letters SE will be shown CAB SEAT R P O The Cab Seat R P O Number when used in conjunction with the Cab Seat Option Chart in the Illus tration Parts Catalog P A 25 will indicate the type ofoptional seat and the model application The space will be blank if the seats are standard production 197O CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION P A 31 15
